Description
Looking across the valley through which the Finglas river flows, Caherconree and Gearhane shine in the midmorning sun. Caherconree was the home of Cú Roí mac Dáire, a legendary sorcerer. After a dispute with his onetime ally the great hero Cúchulainn over the spoils of a battle in Scotland, he took Bláthnat as his wife. Cúchulainn had a bit of a grá for Bláthnat so with her covert aid he stormed Caherconree and killed Cú Roí in his sleep. They fled back to their Ulster home. Some years later Cú Roí’s poet Ferchertne, who survived the attack, encountered Bláthnat along a mountain path. He grabbed her and then jumped off the cliff killing them both. Cú Roí’s son, Lugaid, mortally wounded Cúchulainn thus completing Cú Roí's revenge!!!
